Finish it up Sunday?

Hello! Thursday and Friday were spent getting ready for yesterday's garage sale so today was my day to sew. It was so cold yesterday for the garage sale and it rained off and on. We even had some hail! But today was warmer and sunny and it's very hard to sew when it's sunny outside! My son was out all day playing with his friends, though, so I had to take advantage of that opportunity. I got my 2nd Quilts for Kids quilt done and they are both in the dryer right now so I can ship them off tomorrow. I'm really happy with how they turned out. I've got a lot on my plate for the next few months - finishing Max's quilt, my bee blocks and a baby quilt - so I'll have to hold off on getting any more kits for a while. But here is today's finish:

Normally I have to watch Leah Day's video to finish my bindings because I can never remember how to match up the two ends in a nice mitered seam. Leah Day is amazing and this video is so helpful. But today I did it without watching! And it worked! Woo hoo!

Last night I finished my HST cross stitch and I pressed it nicely today. So it's ready for a frame. The hard part is going to be finding one with a mat that's the right size. This cross stitch measures almost 7 1/2" square. It is the inspiration for an upcoming quilt that I'm very excited about!

I picked up Max's quilt from my long-arm quilter yesterday and I'm thrilled with how it turned out! Anne does a wonderful job. Now I need to decide which fabric to use for the binding and get it finished.

  1. What a lovely post! Your Quilts4Kids quilt finish is adorable. Congrats on finishing the miter on the binding without the video. Sounds like you and Princess Pfiona are getting the hang of it! Your cross stitch is beautiful... At first I thought it WAS a quilt. Yes, it is very inspiring! Max's quilt.... Love that bubble quilting! Good luck finding just the right binding and getting this big brute finished!

    1. Thank you very much! Yes, the cross stitch does look like a mini quilt. That was my intention. I'm going to frame it to hang in my sewing room. I love the bright colors!
