Finish it up Friday

Hello! I have finished the ilove2QUILT mini quilt that Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts designed. She will have it, as well as an ilove2SEW pattern, available to purchase soon and I am honored to have been able to test the pattern for her. My seams ended up a little too narrow so my borders were a little short but with a little trimming and some fudging, I used Tim Gunn's advice to "Make it work!" There is a bit of puckering here and there because of my fudging but once it's quilted it will probably never be noticed. And since it's for my wall I'm okay with it. My motto is "It's not perfect but neither am I." :) Here is Max holding it up so I could get a nice, natural light photo. He loves "helping" me quilt. :)

And speaking of my son, one of my next projects will be for him. Or, rather, his stuffed monkey, Huggy. I had purchased some Chuggington fabric and a green and white polka dot fabric to make a couple pillow cases for the travel pillows he used to use in his toddler bed. I never got them made, though, and now he's in a full-size big-boy bed with standard pillows. So the fabric has just been sitting around with no purpose. Max has requested that I make a Huggy quilt.

I haven't had a chance to start it yet so he wrote me a note today and taped it outside my sewing room to remind me. It means "Max's mom, please make Huggy's quilt." I guess I should get on that! ;)

I am linking up to finish it up Friday over at Crazy Mom Quilts. Have a sew crafty day!

Jenn

  1. I love that pattern from Lorna!! If I had more quilting experience, I would attempt one for my wall in my sewing room :-) Visiting ( and new subscriber) from Finish It Up Friday

    1. Hi Jess! You should give it a shot! It's all simple piecing - just squares and rectangles, mostly. There's only 1 triangle with a bias edge. You can totally do it! :)

  2. Your fabric choices for Lorna's pattern are fab! Gives it a completely different look, amazing how fabric does that.

Your son's note is just too darn cute!! Yes, you'd better get on that before he does ;)
