Getting A Head Start

Sew Fresh Quilts
Hello! I hope you all had a wonderfully crafty weekend. I finished the second layer of my Nested Churn Dash and I'm really excited about how this is turning out! 2 layers to go!

I also started another cross stitch. It is based on quilt blocks and done in rainbow colors which I thought looked really cool. I stumbled upon it at The Crafty Mummy. I'm not sure what I'll do with this one.

Both of my bee queens for August have already posted what they'd like so I've gotten a head start on those blocks. For my newbee hive, the queen wants to do an all green quilt. Each 12.5" block should have 8 different greens, 4 light and 4 dark. I am not a green person and have a very limited supply of green fabrics. So, rather than have me go out and buy green fabric (this is a stash bee), she asked me to make a blown up version of 1/4 of the block to use as her quilt label. She is planning on embroidering the name of the quilt onto this block. I think that's a cool idea!
For my busy bees hive, the queen would like a hexagon log cabin block. I have the fabric pulled for that. The center will be a fussy cut hexagon and the outer layer of "logs" will be from the same fabric. The whole thing will be framed in white.

My goal for the rest of the week is to make the hexagon log cabin block, get the labels made and sewn onto my son's quilt (Under the Sea) and Huggy's quilt (Traintastic!), complete my July $5 quilt blocks and possibly finally finish the quilting on my I Love 2 Quilt wall hanging. Whew! That's a lot. But they're all small things so I think it's doable.

Until next time, have a sew crafty day!

Jenn
