I'm Back!

Hello! It has been 2 full weeks since I last posted any sort of project progress and I still don't have a ton to report but that will be changing in the next few weeks. My son is finishing up his last week of the summer session at school and will have all of next week off before starting his young 5's program on 9/2. His school calls it the Lucky Duck program and he is so excited! He will be going to Kindergarten in the morning and Preschool in the afternoon which means he gets to take his lunch. It will be interesting to see just how much of that lunch comes back home! :)

Those full days of school also mean more sewing time for me! Woo hoo! That's a really good thing because I will be participating in a Holiday craft fair in November and I have a lot of product to make. I ordered pillow forms, Insul-Bright, Wrap-N-Zap and some needles from JoAnn's, lots of fabric, thread and needles from Connecting Threads and some tea towels from Quilter Studio. I have received everything except the tea towels, which should be arriving Friday. They are just like the ones I pictured 2 weeks ago with the machine applique.
Doesn't all that look like fun? I'm going to make microwave bowl cozies in 2 sizes, hot pads, oven mitts, mug rugs, pillow covers, key fobs and applique tea towels. I may have time to throw together a couple small quilts as well. I'm really liking Fat Quarter Shop's new Jelly Roll Jam 2 quilt and I have a couple jelly rolls I could use up. I'm really excited to get started on all of this! :)

But, first thing's first. I need to finish up Breakfast at Tiffany's and get a coordinating pillow sham made. I showed it to the recipient and she is very excited! It's all quilted so I just need to make the binding and sew it on. I also need to get busy on a new quilt that I can't show pictures of just yet because it's a gift and it needs to remain a surprise. And, of course, there will be a couple of Christmas quilts in the mix, one made from my bee blocks. I'm still waiting on 3 more people and then I'll have to make 2 or 3 more blocks myself to complete the layout I want. Here's what I have so far.
I finished up Little Miss Shabby's Quilty Stitches and it has turned out so cute! I have decided to turn this into a pillow but it's not really a high priority right now so you may not see that for a while. But I had to share the semi-finished product. I ran completely out of the white I was using before I could finish the last few rows of the last block so I switched to a different white that I have. It's not as bright but I'm hoping that once it's finished, it won't really be noticeable.
I've also made more of my EPP hexies. I really love that I can sit on the couch at night and make these while the TV is on. I have to be doing something with my hands all the time, so this or cross stitch are great! I have a ton more hexies to go before I can start laying them out for what I want to make. Again, that might be a gift so I can't share the details! :)
Well, that's it for now. It's good to be back!

I learned something new!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced
Sew Fresh Quilts
Hello! I have not gotten much done yet this week. My son's birthday was Monday - he's the big 5 now! :) So I spent the whole day doing what he wanted to do. He ate mac and cheese for breakfast and we took him to IHOP so he could have pancakes for dinner! It was a fun day. :)

I did get to take a machine applique class this weekend at my LQS and it was so much fun! I had time to make 2 tea towels and I see many more applique projects in my future. :)

I also made progress on my rainbow cross stitch and my Little Miss Shabby Quilty Stitches cross stitch. They are both turning out so cute!
And my Nested Churn Dash is coming along slowly, but surely. I have started the 3rd layer.

I have received a couple more of my Christmas bee blocks in the mail. I should have 5 more on the way. I'm really excited about how they are all looking!

I'm also excited to report that my long-armer, Anne, has finished Breakfast at Tiffany's! I will be picking it up on Monday and hope to have it finished by next weekend. Woo hoo!

A Few Small Finishes

Hello! I posted my goals for the rest of the week on Wednesday and I have a funny story. One of my goals was to complete my July $5 quilt blocks but when I went to get the supplies I discovered I had already done them! Ha! I guess I was more ahead than I realized! That turned out to be quite helpful because I had a couple things come up this week that were unplanned so I had less time to sew. Here they are.

I did make both quilt labels but I only got one attached. I'm still deciding how I want to do my son's.

And I made my hexagon log cabin block which means my August bee blocks were completed in July! They are both going in the mail today. The hexagon, to South Carolina and the green block, to Germany. :)

I also received an exciting surprise yesterday. I won a paper copy of Fun-Size Quilts from Fat Quarter Shop's recent blog hop! I can't wait to get it and make some of the adorable mini quilts! :)

I'm linking up today with crazy mom quilts' finish it up Friday and
I'm also linking for the first time to Lily's Quilts Small Blogs Meet. It's a blog hop done the first of every month for blogs with a small following to meet new blogging friends! Check out this month's hop!
