I'm Back!

Hello! It has been 2 full weeks since I last posted any sort of project progress and I still don't have a ton to report but that will be changing in the next few weeks. My son is finishing up his last week of the summer session at school and will have all of next week off before starting his young 5's program on 9/2. His school calls it the Lucky Duck program and he is so excited! He will be going to Kindergarten in the morning and Preschool in the afternoon which means he gets to take his lunch. It will be interesting to see just how much of that lunch comes back home! :)

Those full days of school also mean more sewing time for me! Woo hoo! That's a really good thing because I will be participating in a Holiday craft fair in November and I have a lot of product to make. I ordered pillow forms, Insul-Bright, Wrap-N-Zap and some needles from JoAnn's, lots of fabric, thread and needles from Connecting Threads and some tea towels from Quilter Studio. I have received everything except the tea towels, which should be arriving Friday. They are just like the ones I pictured 2 weeks ago with the machine applique.
Doesn't all that look like fun? I'm going to make microwave bowl cozies in 2 sizes, hot pads, oven mitts, mug rugs, pillow covers, key fobs and applique tea towels. I may have time to throw together a couple small quilts as well. I'm really liking Fat Quarter Shop's new Jelly Roll Jam 2 quilt and I have a couple jelly rolls I could use up. I'm really excited to get started on all of this! :)

But, first thing's first. I need to finish up Breakfast at Tiffany's and get a coordinating pillow sham made. I showed it to the recipient and she is very excited! It's all quilted so I just need to make the binding and sew it on. I also need to get busy on a new quilt that I can't show pictures of just yet because it's a gift and it needs to remain a surprise. And, of course, there will be a couple of Christmas quilts in the mix, one made from my bee blocks. I'm still waiting on 3 more people and then I'll have to make 2 or 3 more blocks myself to complete the layout I want. Here's what I have so far.
I finished up Little Miss Shabby's Quilty Stitches and it has turned out so cute! I have decided to turn this into a pillow but it's not really a high priority right now so you may not see that for a while. But I had to share the semi-finished product. I ran completely out of the white I was using before I could finish the last few rows of the last block so I switched to a different white that I have. It's not as bright but I'm hoping that once it's finished, it won't really be noticeable.
I've also made more of my EPP hexies. I really love that I can sit on the couch at night and make these while the TV is on. I have to be doing something with my hands all the time, so this or cross stitch are great! I have a ton more hexies to go before I can start laying them out for what I want to make. Again, that might be a gift so I can't share the details! :)
Well, that's it for now. It's good to be back!

I'm linking up to Freshly Pieced and Sew Fresh Quilts today.

Have a sew crafty day!

  1. What a great, fun pile of supplies! Your Bee blocks are looking good. I really like how the white centers stand out, and that block in the lower right looks like a snowflake! Very festive.

  2. I would love a big shopping spree!
I still want one of the containers like you have for my hexagons. Can you tell me what the name of the box is so that I can look for it on amazon?

I'm a no reply blogger and have no idea how to change that, so if you have time, please email me at

  3. Wow, what a fun bundle of crafting goodness! I hope the full day of school transition goes well for your son and that you are super productive. :)

  4. Love the Christmas blocks. Very festive!

  5. What a fun filled post, Jenn! Your quilty haul is incredible! Looks like you will be busy. Love how your sampler turned out. Well done!

  6. Oh what a load of goodies Jenn! I love the Christmas bee blocks and especially the cross stitched Quilty Stitches sampler!
