Festive Placemats, 50th Post!

Happy Friday everyone! It is a rainy, dreary day here in West Michigan but that's good sewing weather, right? I'm getting an early start thanks to my husband taking our son to school this morning. That's a nice treat. :) Oh, and this is my 50th post! When I started this blog, I really had no idea where I was going with it. It's so exciting to know that I've kept up with it regularly for 5 months and actually have followers! So thank you to everyone who has enjoyed keeping up with this quilty journey that I'm on. :)

I finished up my Christmas ornament placemats and napkins yesterday and they are beautiful! The pictures really don't do them justice at all. The napkins measure about 16.5" square. I folded them in half and then accordion folded them to fit into the loop on top of the placemat. That was probably the hardest part about making these placemats - getting the right spacing on the accordion fold to make them look good! ;) When my aunt saw pictures of just the placemats, she thought they looked too small for regular place settings. So I actually set the table to show that they are, in fact, big enough and would make a beautiful addition to someone's Christmas dinner table.

I also finished my mug rug tops. These are the last 5 for a total of 22 that now need to be quilted. I just need to practice my free motion quilting before I get started.

My husband and son are going to my in-laws for part of this weekend which means I will have time to myself to work on my secret quilt. I'll be using my walking foot to spiral quilt it and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I'm linking up today to Crazy Mom Quilts' finish it up Friday and Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

Have a sew crafty weekend!
