A Scrap Happy Finish!

Hello! I have a quick post today because I'm getting ready to go out to lunch with some friends. I got the handles on my Scrap Happy Purse! The purse finishes at about 10" wide at the bottom, 12" tall and 5" deep. The handles are long enough to go over the shoulder.

It was kind of a pain in the butt to hand sew these on, especially with some mild pregnancy-related carpal tunnel going on. Several choice words were said but in the end I think they look pretty darn good from the outside!

However, since they were sewn on last, the stitches can be seen on the lining. I'm not super happy about that and for the next one, I'm going to try to attach them to the outside of the purse before I sew in the lining. The only way to "fix" this one would be to deconstruct the purse and that's not going to happen! Hopefully my friend will think like me: that these stitches are just a funky detail added to the lining! In hindsight, if I had realized this was going to happen, I would have chosen a perle cotton that matched the lining.

I'm linking up today to Can I Get a WHOOP WHOOP? and crazy mom quilts' finish it up Friday.

Have a sew crafty weekend!

  1. Congratulations on the finish and I hope you had a great lunch!

  2. Love this patchwork purse with the leather handles. Perhaps you could applique some sort of patches to cover the inside stitching. It is probably stronger with the leather being secured through all layers

  3. Beautiful! Thanks for the reminder I should work on mine!

  4. I love it! The scrappy fabrics are wonderful, where did you get the great handles?

Thank you for your comments! I welcome all feedback and love to hear from you!
