Scrap Happy Progress

Hello! I am very excited today because my first Scrap Happy purse is almost done! All that's left are the faux leather handles that need to be hand stitched.

I absolutely love this purse! I did a couple things differently from Amanda Jean's pattern. I used by Annie's Soft and Stable that I purchased at my local quilt shop, instead of batting which allows the purse to stand up on its own. This was the first time I've used it and I love it! It was so easy to work with and the final product looks and feels so professional. I also added a third pocket on the inside and used hidden magnetic snaps for the closure. Those were another first for me and they're so much fun! I love that you can make the installation completely invisible. I used this tutorial but used Pellon 809 Decor-Bond instead of Peltex. It worked great!

I also made a bit more progress on my aunt's placemats and anticipate finishing the tops today.

I am linking up today to WiP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced and Let's Bee Social at Sew Fresh Quilts.

  8. What an absolutely adorable purse! It does look just like something made by Amanda Jean. This is going to be so cute when you get the handles on. Good for you trying some new things like the magnetic closure!
