WIP Wednesday - Back in the Saddle!

Hello! After over 5 months of not sewing or blogging due to some major life events, I am ready to start "working" again!

As a reminder, I was hospitalized towards the end of February with pregnancy complications. I was only 22 weeks pregnant. To make a long story short, and to spare you the gory details, my body apparently thought we were done! Medication and bed rest improved my situation but every time the high risk doctor would mention the possibility of me going home, my body would do something else that guaranteed further observation time in the hospital. After a while, we just stopped talking about going home! Throughout everything, Annabelle was never in distress. She was such a good little girl, taking everything in stride!

I was due June 26, but on April 3, at 28 weeks pregnant, I went into labor. The doctors and nurses (best nurses ever!) were able to stop it but labor began again on Sunday, April 5 (Easter). This time there was no stopping it and Annabelle was born, via urgent C-section, at 9:22pm, weighing in at a whopping 2lbs, 14.2oz and 14" long!

As tiny as that is, she was classified as large for her gestational age. And being in the hospital for 6 weeks and 2 days before she was born, I was given 4 steroid shots to help her lungs develop. So she was only on a ventilator for about 13 hours, then c-pap for 5 days. She ended up needing a nasal cannula for supplemental oxygen but came off that on April 25. So at 3 weeks old (31 weeks, gestational age), Annabelle was breathing completely on her own! She spent 60 days in the NICU but never had any health issues. She's been home since June 4 and we couldn't be happier. So far, she is healthy and meeting all developmental milestones! Oh, and she's about 11lbs now! :)

During my "down time," my sewing room looked like a tornado blew through it! Every time I walked in to try to do something, I just didn't know where to start and walked right back out. But I finally plugged away over the last couple weeks and it is now rearranged and reorganized and I feel like it is in good, functional form. Before I was hospitalized, I was contacted by a lady who had purchased a couple of my microwave bowl cozies from my Etsy shop. She sent me some fabric to make more, along with some key chains. Luckily, everything she wanted was for Christmas gifts so she wasn't in any hurry to get them. We've been talking back and forth the last few days and I now have a complete list of gifts to make for her: 6 cozy sets (6 small and 6 large), 4 key chains and 3 zippered pencil pouches. I can't wait to get started!
