WIP Wednesday/Finish it up Friday

Warning: This is a picture heavy post!

Hello! I hope you've all been well. I've been reading about so many kids going back to school already and even though Max has been doing the summer program at his school, he doesn't start his new school year until 9/8! That seems so late but they typically start after Labor Day and that's late this year. Oh well. I'm just thankful for summer school and a happy, easy baby so that I can get some projects done!

I finished up my custom order on Wednesday but didn't have a chance to blog about it. I did post a couple Instagram pictures so if you follow me over there, you've seen the completed order as well as what I'm working on now, my Double Crossed quilt. Here is the custom order:

I was able to get half of my triangles sewn onto my Double Crossed quilt blocks yesterday and finished about 24 sets last night. Only 36 more to go and then I can trim and square the blocks and start arranging them. I'm really excited to see this quilt come together!

Last week, I received some new fabric, Pie Making Day by Brenda Ratliff of Just a Bit Frayed, the owner of Pink Castle Fabrics, and spent some time planning a Swoon quilt (Camille Roskelley) and a Wheels quilt (from Joanna Figueroa's Craftsy class) using the 1/2-yard cuts that I got. This is my absolute favorite fabric line right now and I can't wait to dig into it! These are the ones I chose for my Swoon quilt but I'll end up using the whole line for my Wheels quilt. Aren't they just gorgeous?!?

I've also been doing a little home decor after living in this house for almost 5 years! I guess it took having a second child to finally get the inspiration I was looking for. :) I recently discovered Life Expressions Decor, which is a company that was started right here in Southwest Michigan. They sell custom vinyl that you see everywhere these days. They have a huge everyday catalog as well as seasonal catalogs but they can make a vinyl sign for literally anything you can think of! They also do make and take parties where you can paint a wood board and apply a vinyl saying to it. I hosted a party about a month ago and it was so much fun. I ended up making 5 boards and ordered 5 more! Here is what my wall currently looks like along with the photo collages of my kids that still need to go up. All of the signs are Life Expressions Decor signs. I love them!

So that's my life right now! I am linking up today to Can I Get a WHOOP WHOOP and crazy mom quilts' finish it up Friday.  And by the way, Sarah, who rungs Can I Get a WHOOP WHOOP over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict just passed 1,000,000 page views on her blog and hit 300 followers on her Instagram! She's having an amazing giveaway so check it out! Have a sew crafty weekend!
