Midnight Mystery Quilt

Hello everyone! Back in May, Cheryl over at Meadow Mist Designs, announced a mystery quilt that she designed to run from June 2015-March 2016. I have never done a mystery quilt before but I like Cheryl's style so I thought I'd give this one a shot. She's calling it the Midnight Mystery Quilt and you can click on the button below, or in my sidebar, for more information.

Connecting Threads ran a sale on their Patriotic fabric line in June so I picked up the yardage I needed for the entire quilt, including the backing and binding. I've been wanting to make a Patriotic quilt so I decided to combine the two. And then I fell behind because of my $5 and Double Crossed quilts. I need to get those tops and backs done before 9/19 so I can get them to my long-armer and since I made pretty good progress on them this week, I took a break to get going on this mystery quilt. I was able to get all the fabric pressed and cut and now I'm ready to go with August's instructions - flying geese using the no waste method. I've never made flying geese this way so I'm excited to give it a try! I'm also excited about September's blocks - square in a square. I've never made them before but I think they look really cool!

I also purchased and received a large scrap bag of fabric that Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew was "destashing" on her Instagram account. It is mainly boyish scraps so I think they'll come in handy teaching my son to sew. He eventually wants to make a quilt and I think there's plenty of fabric here to get him going. :)

I'm linking up today to Can I Get a WHOOP WHOOP? and crazy mom quilts' finish it up Friday.

Have a Sew Crafty weekend!

Jenn
